Thank you for all your hard work during a challenging year! Have a safe, healthy summer and hopefully, we will resume in-person learning in the fall!
After two sweet months in our classroom, we unfortunately had to say goodbye to Mr. Smith, our student teacher, as he returns to OISE/UT to complete his teaching program. Thank you, Mr. Smith, for your kind, caring, and helpful presence in our class! We learned a lot from you and are sorry to see you go!
After two brief months in our classroom, Martina will be returning to her home country, Spain. We will miss you and wish you all the best!
To celebrate Martina, we had fun with "Oobleck" and listened to her read her Life Map! And sadly, not too shortly after Derek left our class, we have to say goodbye to yet another member of our class! Best wishes on your move, Gabriel!
After our end-of-the-year school mass today, we presented our annual Holy Cross School Awards for students who met the criteria. CONGRATULATIONS TO After the awards were presented, we unfortunately had to say goodbye to Ms. Roche and Mr. Schnurr.
After Play Day, we celebrated the achievements of a few students with the Holy Cross community! We also said good-bye to several staff members: Dear Students,
Where did the time go?! It seems like yesterday when I met you on that first day in the school yard! Congratulations on completing your ten years of elementary school! You are now at an crucial transition in your lives, the journey towards adulthood - the next four years of high school will prepare you to take on more responsibilities and show greater initiative to become more independent, mature individuals capable of making your own decisions and deciding the trajectory of your future. It was quite a busy year! You all cooperated, rather than competed, with each other to organize and lead many activities for the Holy Cross school community such as the Halloween Haunted House, Valentine's Dance, Carnaval, Stations of the Cross, French play "Cendrillon", and Play Day! As well, you all developed strong bonds through the time you shared with each other during your lunches and recesses, group projects, field trips, and, of course, our overnight excursion to Ottawa! Remember to trust in Jesus with all your heart and know that he will guide you in making wise decisions on the path ahead of you - trust in him, even when the path ahead seems rocky and difficult, and persevere to achieve the greater good which God asks us to establish on earth. Continue to love God and your neighbour and to especially live a life ofagape or the self-giving love which our Lord Jesus Christ modelled for us by always making a choice to do what is best for the good of another. It was my privilege and honour to teach all of you in your last year at Holy Cross! You all have many gifts and talents to share with the world - continue to work hard and put in effort to develop the skills you will require to prepare you for the challenges and successes that lie ahead! Take reasonable risks and push yourself to excel in all areas of your life! And, Squad, remember: Holy Cross is your home! Come back and visit anytime! May God bless you all! Love, Ms. Pais :) We celebrated our end-of-the-year school mass today. After mass, we had a few special awards to present to those students who met the criteria! CONGRATULATIONS TO After the awards presentations, we had some tearful good-byes... We unfortunately had to say good-bye to Angelo who is moving to another neighbourhood :(
Dear Students,
Our year together has finally come to an end! We have shared many memorable times this year, including our (very professional) Haunted House, History Debate, Flash Mob (in the snow!), PSA Anti-bullying Videos, Stations of the Cross, Ottawa Trip (Gr. 8 only - hopefully next year for you, Gr. 7!), volunteer session at New Circles, French play (for the entire school!), Canada's Wonderland trip, Play Day, field trips (YPT, Science Centre, Mackenzie House, Todmorden Mills), and much more! More importantly, you all bonded to become a FAMILY who cared for and supported each other at all times. From September to June, you have all grown, not just physically, but academically, emotionally, and spiritually. Many lessons were taught and learned, not just those related to our curriculum, but also those pertaining to the virtues we need to live our lives responsibly and faithfully. Continue to trust in Jesus who is LOVE and MERCY itself - he will guide you in all your decisions if you ask for his help, lift you up when you are down, and is ready to welcome you back any time if you ask for his forgiveness. It was my privilege and honour to be your teacher this year. I am fortunate to have had this wonderful opportunity to meet each one of you and learn more about you. You all have many special talents and gifts - continue to work hard to develop your skills to share with others! Grade 8's: I am positive you will all be successful in your first year of high school! Have confidence and faith in yourself and God and you will be able to handle all the challenges and choices awaiting you. Come back and visit Holy Cross anytime - it will always be your home! Grade 7's: Rest, relax, recuperate, and return refreshed for your FINAL year at Holy Cross as the leaders of the school! We look forward to seeing you in September! Have a safe and happy summer! May God bless all of you in the journey ahead! Love, Ms. Pais :) Our last day finally arrived - a bittersweet moment! While we are all looking forward to a much deserved summer holiday, we will miss the friends we have made at Holy Cross and the times we have shared together. It was heartwarming to see so many Grade 8's join us on our last day of their elementary schooling! We started off the day with charitably assisting some of the teachers in the school. We then had one final Dodgeball Tournament! After our Dodgeball Tournament, we went to McDonald's for lunch and stopped by Gamble Park on the way back to school. We concluded the day with viewing our dance performances, leading to a final dance party in the gym! George taught up his moves to "Wing$" and we even managed to squeeze in our Flash Mob at the end...too bad we didn't perform it outdoors! Well, there's always next year!
SCHOOL'S OUT FOR THE SUMMER! WE HOPE YOU HAD THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE! "As we go on We remember All the times we Had together And as our lives change Come whatever We will still be Friends Forever!" We celebrated our end-of-the-year school mass today. After mass, we had some special awards to present to a few students! We unfortunately had to say good-bye to several staff members. We wish all the following people all the best in their future endeavours and hope to see them soon! Aujourd'hui, c'était le dernier jour pour Madame Giordano :( |
