Mr. Johnson reminded us that Black History is our history - people of all races were involved in the fight for civil rights. He encouraged us to persevere in times of difficulty and to never give up on our dreams.
In his talk, Mr. Johnson shared the following shocking statistics:
- there is no library in the entire country of Liberia;
- the ratio of (outdated) textbooks to students in Liberia is 1:27;
- in 2013. all 25 000 Liberian high-school students recently failed the university entrance exam, mainly due to the shortage of educational resources.
Mr. Johnson is currently spearheading the Liberian Learning Centre Project to provide 21st Century resources to the people of Liberia.
