September 1, 1864 - Representatives from the colonies of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island met in Charlottetown, P.E.I. to discuss the prospect of a Maritime Union. The United Province of Canada, composed of Canada East (now Quebec) and Canada West (now Ontario), decided to attend the meeting to convince the Maritime delegates to join with them in a larger union - Confederation.
And the rest, as they say, is history - our Canadian history, to be exact!
In historical role, we re-enacted the Charlottetown Conference of 1864. Discussion was heated and different perspectives were aired but ultimately, delegates cooperated in a respectful manner to achieve a common goal - Confederation!
